Vilagarcía map ST James Way Cruise

Vilagarcia is the nearest port of Santiago de Compostela. And leaving from  Vilagarcia,  the waters of Compostela Sea were navigated by the boat bringing the body of the Apostle Santiago the last few miles. And that´s why in Vilagarcia we can find the original Way to Santiago.  The pilgrimage to Santiago is the most outstanding and most profoundly experienced religious phenomenon of the Middle Ages, a fact that has been recognised by UNESCO, which declared it a World Heritage route.   Santiago is one of the most visited cities of Spain, full of history and cultural heritage. And Santiago de Compostela is also  one of three holy cities in the world where Catholics can earn absolution of their sins by making a pilgrimage. (The other two holy cities are Rome and Jerusalem.)
